So I'm trying this again. I thought maybe I'd trying drawing myself doing something that was more in keeping with my personality.

Every graduating class for a while here at Ringling has made a senior portrait poster where everyone in the graduating class draws themselves and we all get put into one big poster.

This is what I'm thinking of doing for mine. I think a self portrait can be one of the toughest thinks an artist can do so of course I'm not completely happy with it. Ah well.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Bird Ball

These are some concept doodles for my next open assignment for illustration class. I wanted to draw ladies in dresses that resemble birds. It's sort of turned into a made up fairy tale or at least a scene from one.

The narrative in my mind reads that the peacock is either an evil queen or just a wealthy lady who is very protective of her son the prince. The swan woman loves the prince but was given an impossible task to perform before they could marry, this scene is where she has completed the task, and has arrived at the ball to the surprise of the peacock and the joy of the prince. Other people at the ball are the owl, the buzzard, and the humming bird.

I was in a mood to really mess with texture and color variation so I messed around with this. I haven't quite figured it out, but I'm enjoying the process.

Converge Illustration

I was commissioned by my school to illustrate an article my president was writing for a new magazine called Converge. It was about how the town of Sarasota was "converging" all the different kinds of art, from music, dance, theatre, fine arts, etc. The final publication was 9" x 9"full color.

They asked me to do a limited color palet and at first they wanted 3 colors only, but I showed them this version with blue added and they really liked it, so it made it to the final print.

Dinruffy Spot

Dinruffy Spot

So for an open assignment in my senior Illustration class I thought I'd try out an idea I had for thesis. It would possibly be a story where there are 2 bratty children who drive their parents to distraction, then Dinruffy shows up and behaves so much better than they do. So, of course, he must be destroyed.
